Religion:  ‘Prayer and Spirituality'

Students will explore how Christians pray. They will develop an understanding of and engage with a variety of prayers and spiritual exercises and be provided the opportunity to participate respectfully in meditative prayer, including The Examen (guided prayerful reflection at the end of the day). Students will also be encouraged to identify and use practices and spiritual exercises that assist them to prepare for and engage in meditative prayer, including reflective prayer journaling and praying with icons of the Saints.

English Unit: Reports

Students will develop an understanding of the purpose, structure and language features of reports. They will engage with and read a variety of reports written with multicultural perspectives. After researching a selected country, students will create and present an information report that explores the various elements of the chosen country.

History Unit: ‘Identity Down Under – Yours, Mine, Ours’

Students will investigate stories of groups of people who migrated to Australia, the reasons they migrated and some of the effects on society. Students will develop a deep sense of cultural respect, understanding and appreciation, as well as becoming global active and informed citizens. Individually, students will conduct a personal interview about a person’s migration story. Using the information gathered from the interview, and other relative sources the students will creatively present and retell the migration story.
 
Science Unit: Chemical Science – ‘Change Detectives’

Students will investigate states and properties of matter. They will explore physical, chemical, reversible and irreversible changes through a variety of ‘fair test’ experiments and record predictions, observations and results using a variety of methods.
